ThinkPad Twist (3347-2HU)
i5-3317U(1.7GHz), 4GB RAM, 500GB 7200rpm HD+24GB Micro Solid State Drive, 12.5in 1366x768 LCD, Intel HD Graphics, 802.11abgn wireless, Bluetooth, UltraNav, Secure Chip, Camera, 8c Li-Poly, Win8 Pro 64
It's sleek looking, light weight considering it is a tablet and a laptop combined. If only it could switch back and forth from Windows 8 Pro to Android. It is fast, loads some sites faster than my Note. (ADDED INFO 12/17/12: WITH AMD APP PLAYER by BlueStacks You can run your fav Android Apps,in a window w/o doing a dual boot! And its a free download. Just google it.)You can have the best of both worlds!
I say the battery life is no so hot, 4 to 5 hours w/ regular surfing the net and non online use. Less if you add in music or Youtube. Running a video on Netflix, 2hrs of vid and surfing and writing this (At same time). I showed battery at 36 min left. But when I stopped movie, power level then said I had 1 hr. So I started movie again, I went in the Kitchen and came back, It had gone into sleep mode w/ only 4% battery left. (Note I run w/o power saver mode, I go for performance)
I was shocked when I ran the Windows experience test, I got a 4.4 over all . I figured it would be better.

After running the test, I wish I had went for the i7 w/ 8GB ram. But only had it 2 days at test results, maybe I will figure out how to optimize this thing. I Want to take a peek under the hood and see if I can add ram, This unit supports 8GB.
I love the keyboard, feels as good as the old IBM/Lenovo Laptop keyboards I have always loved. Same goes for the touchpad.(my 1st laptop 10 or 12 yrs ago was IBM)
I like having the bonus of being able to use the keyboard and touch screen simultaneously.
Windows 8 is taking some getting use to. So far I like it, I do hope more apps get added.
The Wifi is excellent, I have not even tried connecting with the RJ-45 yet.
The audio is ok (like most laptop speakers),OOPS! Just tried same song against my Samsung Note 10.1 (android tablet), Sound quality is Superior on the Note. I would not want to hear what the non W-8 PRO would do, Pro is the only version that has a Dolby Home Theater experience, it has a great graphic equalizer. If you use other than the on board speakers it sounds great.
Other cons: no digitizer pen. Auto Rotate is a little annoying, but easy on the side button to turn it off.
But over all I give it a 5 star because it dose a little more that I thought it would. And the for the price, especially on a New release(what I really wanted was $1,600.00).

By David B. Whittle
I've had this for a month now, and although having Windows 8 and a touch screen on a laptop take some getting used to, I really like this laptop / tablet combination. The laptop isn't as good as my X1 Carbon ($1849) and the tablet isn't as good as my 64GB iPad ($799), but considering that the Twist costs only a little bit more than one third as much as the two combined, I'd say the Twist is a screaming good deal.
Here's my opinion of the pros:
- Touch screen
- Doubles as tablet AND ultrabook (.8" thin and 3.5 lbs light)
- Legendary ThinkPad quality
- Best-of-breed spill-resistant keyboard
- Shock-proofing
- Mil-spec durability
- Steel hinges
- TrackPoint pointing device(mouse substitute)
- Great prices on enhanced warranty options (3-year extension, accidental damage protection, battery replacement, and on-site service plans are all quite reasonable)
- Has excellent ports (2 USB3.0, Gb Ethernet, mini-DisplayPort, mini-HDMI, headphone, 4-in-1 card reader, 2 PCIe Mini-card, & security tether)
Cons:
- New system (Windows 8 & touch screen) comes with a steeper learning curve than most laptops
- Auto-rotate is still flaky - can be managed using the side button but is a nuisance if you're used to the iPad
- Windows 8 is still working out a few kinks
In summary, it's a fun system to learn because it represents a new way of interacting with a computer - but that can also be a frustration if you're not prepared to spend some time learning how do to things a bit differently than you're used to. But once you learn the new ways, it feels a lot more productive and enjoyable to use.

By Mr. Grim
After spending quite a bit of time researching a new ultrabook, I had decided upon the Thinkpad twist. The idea of a convertible that I could use as a tablet was very attractive. The first unit I got had a defective keyboard. The left arrow key was sprung out and didn't really function at all.
Got that exchanged very easily, but the second unit failed a self diagnostic read/write test for both RAM and the HDD. I was very surprised because Lenovo has an excellent reputation for quality and our Lenovo desktop has been flawless for years. Even so, the company seems to be having QC issues with this new line. Needless to say, I decided upon another model and manufacturer at that point. FWIW, I also found that the 3.5 lb form factor made the tablet experience unsatisfactory, so I decide upon a 13.3-inch touch-screen ultrabook from Samsung that is working out well for me.
The Windows 8 experience is really wonderful with a touch screen. The software, apps, and internet sites that work well with the touch interface are wonderful. I switched back to my old laptop briefly and found that the lack of touch really bugged me! Glad to have Win8 and touch on my new PC.
